| ON The horn of Africe.. almost.Bordered by and to the south west of
the red sea a is Ethiopia, bordered by Djiboutti,somalia and the to the
east as well as a strip of Eritrea between Ethiopia and any sign of a coast
on the Red sea.,Kenya to the south and Sudan to the west. To the north
is Eritrea and a disputed region between the two called the Badme
region.
This conflict gained momentum in may 98 and was erupting as of valentines day feb. 14,99. approx. 200,000 to 400,000 troops are poised at the border. American citizens are advised by the state dept. to theave the two countries, seek out the nearest embassy for immediate evacuation. both nations are ally's of the U>S> and used to be sisters. This makes for a troublesome, possibly bloody conflict, the region is accostomed to war, and does not have the reservations we enjoy here in the U>S>. ironically, if you can call it that, the disputed badme region appears to hold no signifigance, other then military buffer. It is a barely populated desert. |
